Virendar has over 20 years of drug discovery experience with expertise in biochemistry, biophysics, and structure-based drug design. He has directed a therapeutics development group at the Broad Institute and led multiple cross- functional project teams aimed at bringing transformative medicines to patients with cardiovascular, metabolic, oncologic, or infectious disease. Additionally, Virendar was a leader of and key contributor to drug discovery programs that entered clinical development at Novartis and Millennium Pharmaceuticals.
Virendar received his B.A. in Biology and M.A. in Physiology from Boston University, and his Ph.D in Nutritional Biochemistry from Tufts University.
